Lovelina Chavrimootoo is a Mauritian artist. She started making art at the tender age of three, and has years of experience in the arts. Lovelina has a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts, specialising in painting; she is an art teacher, a creative coach, a fashion designer, a DIY and crafts artist, as well as a poet.
The talented and exotic island girl full of life is driven by her passion for colors and beauty. Emotions is an integral part of her paintings. She draws inspiration for her sketches and artworks from her own moods, thoughts and feelings. Contemporary art stimulates her intellect and evokes a burning desire towards expression. Her creativity and insight give her something to talk about. Art makes her happy and more importantly, she found something gracious about art that makes her radiate.
The young lady shares, “My ideas flow best and most abundantly on occasions when I am alone with myself during sleepless nights”.
Besides that, Lovelina enjoys cooking, trying new recipes, reading, doing sports, yoga and practicing meditation. Furthermore, she often gets her best inspiration when she is surrounded by nature, at the beach or simply around her pets.
Lovelina is a sensitive person who loves animals and appreciates the presence of loving and kind people like herself. In the past she has been dedicating her time to humanitarian purposes at the IMCA and at several NGO’s. Her contribution in the organisation of the National event pertaining to the elevation of the Old Ste. Anne Chapel to the status of being a “National Heritage has been very much treasured. Her paintings related the history of the construction of the Old Chapel and they were broadcasted on our national television.
Additionally, she has been organizing artistic workshops with the goal of helping people of all ages and with various disabilities by using art as a therapy.
In 2019, Lovelina was invited to offer an oil portrait painting to the late Sir Anerood Jugnauth on his birthday and her prestigious and thoughtful act was so admired and esteemed by the high personality that once more, she appeared on TV.
As a high achiever, Lovelina kept climbing the ranks as she seized the opportunity to meet the famous singers of the Indian band SANAM upon their live concerts in Mauritius when she offered a personalized portrait to each one of them.
Lastly, Lovelina recently started developing an interest for poem writing when she feels inspired and she aspires at publishing a book that will someday also unearth her spiritual journey.

Loveli’s Arts participated in both national and international art exhibitions. The artist who has also been featured in social and cultural events perceives an art exhibition as a medium through which she can inspire, create public awareness, influence people, and implant values.
Artists mainly use art to express their emotions and inward feelings. Art exhibitions often house catalogs that contain descriptions and essays about the artwork. They additionally establish the fundamentals for branding, self-understanding, fundraising, networking, future development, public awareness, breaking ground, and so on.
Art in this sense is communication; it allows people from different cultures and different periods to communicate with each other via images, sounds, and stories. Art is often a vehicle for social change. It can give ‘voice’ to the politically or socially disenfranchised. A song, film, or novel can arouse emotions in those who encounter it, inspiring them to rally for change.
Similarly, throughout her paintings, Lovelina nourishes the desire to impact the young generation. She holds on to the idea that art influences society by moulding opinions, and translating experiences across space and time.

Poetry
Lovelina writes poems on various topics that are of interest to her whenever she feels inspired.
To her, poetry represents freedom as it is a means through which words are used to “break free” without constraints.
In this instance, Lovelina substitutes paint and colour by words, for a while to portray what she wishes to convey to people, in general.
Furthermore, she defends the idea that poetry helps in closing certain gaps established by society. Poetry helps her to feel part of a larger picture. She no longer feels isolated in her own constructed World.
Through shared poetry, one can relate to someone else’s journey or can simply be exposed to the art of creative expression which tends to slightly disappear in the new-age educational landscapes, in Lovelina’s opinion.
